cannoli

Just made like.. two and a half dozen cannoli for a friend/customer...
I'm smart tho. I made the dough and the filling last night. ..
and fried them this morning!
My kitchen looks like a pink power puff exploded tho.

Pissy

OK. so .
I just made some pretty epic burgers with garlic aioli, pepper harvarti cheese, cornmeal back bacon, and fresh tomatoes.
I also made a tomato salad with fresh cherry tomatoes.
but.. where are my pictures?
I fucking forgot to take them.
Why?
Cause I burned the fuck out of my fingers taking my burgers out of the oven... (broken oven door).
FUCK.

today is my aunt ruth's birthday, so naturally. I made her a cake.
this cake is 4 layers of cake, 2 layers of banana. and 3 layers of cream and chocolate... mmm

The goodness of olive Oil.

I'd like to take a minute to talk about my oil collection.
Although its not this vast expanse of oil that some people have, I am proud of my oils.
I have a GALLON of good quality oil, that my dad ninja sent home with me before he left for Europe. I also have a bottle of normal-ish quality that i use for everyday cooking... (and popcorn making..mmm ) THEN, i have a fancy-dancy wine bottle, with a spout on the top, that i have rigged up with fresh garlic, fresh basil, peppercorns, and chili peppers... and let me tell you.. I dont even have to add garlic to things if I use this oil... .. hold on. lemme get a picture...
You can kinda see the leaves of the basil, and other murky concoctions. yumm.
Have you ever just tasted JUST olive oil? whether in a spoon , or on a nice piece of bread? A good olive oil can make you or break you... mmm

i would eat spinach till i turned green.

K. so i got hungry, and I didn't feel like leftovers.
So i found a whole package of frozen spinach in the freezer, and some pretty cherry tomatoes that just happned to be left over from a wedding... PLUS the last of my boyfriend's half and half that he usually uses for his coffee.... and a little parm.. gotta have parm.
add angel hair pasta, and voila! awesomeness, and creamy goodness. in a big pretty white bowl.
I feel as though I am one with the spinach...
mm.

I've been spending some quality time with my kitchen, I spend the better part of yesterday making Cannoli, they are beautiful... mmmm and tasty as hell. Arn't they perty? I used a half a cup of amaretto in the dough, and real ricotta in the filling... mmm
I texted my parents in europe and asked them to bring me some bamboo forms for cannoli, but i bought some of the round type, and christine <33 lent me some of the horn type. I could make these things forever... Tonite, I have to make a cake for Ruth. Pics to come later. I think I want to make pie in the next couple of days... but what kind?!

Hmm, back, another Wednesday of egg salad boredom.... Came home. took a nap. MMMM.
So I promised to talk about food, and the food that I cook... Yesterday, I made homemade pizza, with fresh spinach, portobello mushroom, and fresh cherry tomato... It was exactly what i wanted, and exactly what i needed. ... I started with a really soft foccacia- type dough.. mmm and added my toppings.. baked for 20ish minutes in the oven. MM.... Ger hates mushrooms, so half was with shitty pepperoni for him.. He liked it.
Today, at work I decided to make homemade mayo/aioli... After fighting with the Queez, for like an hour cause it's all broken, My aioli was decent, however a bit garlickey... .. My last undertaking worth talking about at work was yet another birthday cake.... bored with the normal borders and such we are "supposed" to be making.. I opted to go with whipped cream flowers....
Oh, and dinner tonite consisted of sloppy joe's with swiss cheese melted in them... Fattening goodness.. :D

Culinary Countess begins her Journey.

Hi.
I made a blog today.... However.. I set it up, and now I have to go to work.
It doesn't look like I'm going to be able to go back to school this year, so I've decided to immerse myself in the culinary world I live in.... and blog about it...
Yeah, I went to see Julie and Julia last night, and MAYBE this is why I'm doing this.. but I also think It'll be lots of fun too.
I'll post more later about what I cooked for dinner last night!
