Work on sunday was TRES boring. However, one of my favorite staffers there, Shirley <3>6 Reservations makes for a crappy-ass night. Regardless.

However I would like to point out, that work-cakes, are made with half of the required equipment, and generally with 4 or 5 people breathing down my neck watching me AND my boss rushing me... always rushing...... stress stress stress.

It didn't turn out half as nice as I would have liked. However.... She Loved it... and i like it.. its pretty cute.

Upcoming with Callisto Catering... A Nice big X-mas party.. with a bigger establishment in town... EXCITING. We are pulling out all the stops!

I guess thats because I don't have very much time to cook lately either.

Tonite, I enjoyed a Delissio pizza, prepared by my favorite in-house chef, Ger.

Too bad no one told me about it.

Apparently my brother and his wife had their baby today.

Too bad I found out about it on facebook, and by text message, and everyone else got a call from them.

Apparently her name is Gabriella.

I'm sure she's beautiful... And I'm incredibly happy she is here..

But still a little ticked.

I had the worst day at work.... well, maybe not the worst...

Honestly though... Why do some people have to be so frigging miserable?

Some of the girls at work today were SO miserable, that they made me miserable... AND I'm happy like 95% of the time in that damn kitchen.

It frustrates me that people like that will keep their jobs this winter, and I will be unemployed.

It's not like I have to be a "chef" all winter, I just want to work... Is that really so much to ask!?

On the upside.. I'm eating Fat free yogurt, with frozen strawberries from an old coffee mug.. listening to the Ramones... and its mostly fabulous.

I have a whole shit-load of reading to do.... "the city of ladies" by Christine de Pizan.... a dozen readings from my history text, a chapter or two in Psych, a chapter in my gender book... and I'm Supposed to be reading for geology, but ALAS... the mail system fails me again, and I have no text yet... or bag for school... or.. any of the other texts I am waiting for. FAIL FAIL FAIL.

OH! And I don't think I have the money for my lab book for my geology class... :(

School begins!

So School.

I'm sitting in my first class, PSYCH, and the teacher just came blaring in.. listening to an IPOD super loud, Rocking out. and proceeded to tell people he was an "idiot" for making a mistake on the outline..

This school is full of surprises...

Sorry guys,

I know I haven't been cooking much, But I got a layoff notice at work and not only have I been panicking, but being told that you aren't going to have your most favorite job anymore, makes you not want to cook at all. Today I redeem myself... I promise.

I felt like cooking, so I went to Rome's for a walk, and some inspiration.

I found some chicken breasts that were half off, (today was the expiry.. I don't usually do this, but I was cooking them RIGHT AWAY.) I also found a container labelled "stir fry veggies" that consisted of like.. broccoli, cauliflower, red onions, zucchini, carrots (even though i don't particularly LIKE them) I also bought a ready made caesar salad kit.. MMM. OH and PITAS.... GIANT ONES.

So I chopped up the chicken, fried it up and made caesar salad, (for ger... not my cup of tea.)

and made him a chicken caesar pita!

With the rest of the chicken in the frying pan, I added my veggies, and fried them up till done.

THEN in MY pita, i put a little romaine salad, some cherry tomatoes cut in half, some garlic mayo, and added my chicken/veggie stirfry from my pan! VoiLA amazing.

It was super tasty folks.

Just made like.. two and a half dozen cannoli for a friend/customer...

I'm smart tho. I made the dough and the filling last night. ..

and fried them this morning!

OK. so .

I just made some pretty epic burgers with garlic aioli, pepper harvarti cheese, cornmeal back bacon, and fresh tomatoes.

I also made a tomato salad with fresh cherry tomatoes.

but.. where are my pictures?

I fucking forgot to take them.

Why?

Cause I burned the fuck out of my fingers taking my burgers out of the oven... (broken oven door).

FUCK.

been a few days.

I still don't have anything of interest to post..

except that perhaps me and Ger thought of an amazing idea last night when we were cuddling before bed...

birthdays..

today is my aunt ruth's birthday, so naturally. I made her a cake.
this cake is 4 layers of cake, 2 layers of banana. and 3 layers of cream and chocolate... mmm

The goodness of olive Oil.

I'd like to take a minute to talk about my oil collection.
Although its not this vast expanse of oil that some people have, I am proud of my oils.
I have a GALLON of good quality oil, that my dad ninja sent home with me before he left for Europe. I also have a bottle of normal-ish quality that i use for everyday cooking... (and popcorn making..mmm ) THEN, i have a fancy-dancy wine bottle, with a spout on the top, that i have rigged up with fresh garlic, fresh basil, peppercorns, and chili peppers... and let me tell you.. I dont even have to add garlic to things if I use this oil... .. hold on. lemme get a picture...
You can kinda see the leaves of the basil, and other murky concoctions. yumm.
Have you ever just tasted JUST olive oil? whether in a spoon , or on a nice piece of bread? A good olive oil can make you or break you... mmm

i would eat spinach till i turned green.

K. so i got hungry, and I didn't feel like leftovers.
So i found a whole package of frozen spinach in the freezer, and some pretty cherry tomatoes that just happned to be left over from a wedding... PLUS the last of my boyfriend's half and half that he usually uses for his coffee.... and a little parm.. gotta have parm.
add angel hair pasta, and voila! awesomeness, and creamy goodness. in a big pretty white bowl.
I feel as though I am one with the spinach...

leave the gun, take the cannoli.

I've been spending some quality time with my kitchen, I spend the better part of yesterday making Cannoli, they are beautiful... mmmm and tasty as hell. Arn't they perty? I used a half a cup of amaretto in the dough, and real ricotta in the filling... mmm
I texted my parents in europe and asked them to bring me some bamboo forms for cannoli, but i bought some of the round type, and christine <33 lent me some of the horn type. I could make these things forever... Tonite, I have to make a cake for Ruth. Pics to come later. I think I want to make pie in the next couple of days... but what kind?!

Hmm, back, another Wednesday of egg salad boredom.... Came home. took a nap. MMMM.
So I promised to talk about food, and the food that I cook... Yesterday, I made homemade pizza, with fresh spinach, portobello mushroom, and fresh cherry tomato... It was exactly what i wanted, and exactly what i needed. ... I started with a really soft foccacia- type dough.. mmm and added my toppings.. baked for 20ish minutes in the oven. MM.... Ger hates mushrooms, so half was with shitty pepperoni for him.. He liked it.
Today, at work I decided to make homemade mayo/aioli... After fighting with the Queez, for like an hour cause it's all broken, My aioli was decent, however a bit garlickey... .. My last undertaking worth talking about at work was yet another birthday cake.... bored with the normal borders and such we are "supposed" to be making.. I opted to go with whipped cream flowers....
Oh, and dinner tonite consisted of sloppy joe's with swiss cheese melted in them... Fattening goodness.. :D

Culinary Countess begins her Journey.

Hi.
I made a blog today.... However.. I set it up, and now I have to go to work.
It doesn't look like I'm going to be able to go back to school this year, so I've decided to immerse myself in the culinary world I live in.... and blog about it...
Yeah, I went to see Julie and Julia last night, and MAYBE this is why I'm doing this.. but I also think It'll be lots of fun too.
I'll post more later about what I cooked for dinner last night!
